Abstract

The book by the famous Yugoslav and Serbian scholar Milorad Ekmečić (1928–1915) was first published in 2007. It went through seven editions in Serbia. Now it has been translated into Russian for the first time. The monograph by M. Ekmečić is devoted to the key events in the history of the Serbian people over five hundred years from 1492 to 1992. The author offers an original periodization of Serbian history in modern times and examines the reasons for the formation and collapse of the multinational Yugoslav state. The Russian edition is provided with scientific commentary, chronological tables, maps, and a terminological dictionary.
